runnnnin

Went for an okay run this morning. My schedule is a little off, as my in law are here. My mother in law was sleeping on the coach, so I could not chill until I was ready to run(use the bathroom 6x times).

I did about an 1:52 run. Got back and there was a package at the front door. Closer inspection reveal, ORCA Wetsuit. I was already to open the box and try my new present on when, the wife stopped me. Apparently, I have to wait till Christmas.AHHHHHH

This the season...

Start my Christmas vacation today. Really not much going on. I will be sticking around the house spending time with the family. I have vacation that I need to use up. So I will do yard work and of course finish(okay start) my Christmas shopping.

I might take the kids bowling today. I will run or bike later in the day. I was able to hit the pool yesterday for a 52 minute swim. Short lanes were in so, there was no way I was going to count laps. I figured, it was at least 1.5 miles. I am feeling better and better about my swim.

I am thinking about 1 more long run this weekend, prior to the Goof Challenge. I need to check the Get your Geek on site, to find out about their virtual triathlon for New Years. The YMCA is open..

Need to work on my list of New Years Resolutions.. I am afraid one maybe to give up alcohol till after Ironman Florida?!!

Well I slept in on Saturday. We did not get home till late on Friday night and a couple of cocktails equaled no early morning run.

I did however wake up at 5am to get out the door by 6am for a nice 3hr run. The one problem with this was that it was dark of course, but also foggy. The fog did not break until after I got home.. It was like running in the abyss. I was soaked when I got home because of the humidity. Kristy went for her long run when I got home then Grace had a birthday party.

I need to give my legs a little break so I am thinking a little swim on Monday. The kids are off from school all week. It will be tough to get a lot of work done, but not much work to do this time of the year.

As I ended my run, I looked at all of the spiderwebs just off the side walk. How are they built? It reminds me of my training. You need to have a goal in mind when and need to complete each of the segments. I guess Ironman would be the center of the web. With out a plan a spiderweb would just be a pile of web, instead it turns into structure and something that is pretty. Not sure if that make sense...

Ready for the weekend

This weekend will be my last long training run headed in to the Goofy Challenge. I hope to get up way early and run tomorrow. The problem being the Christmas Party me and the wife will attend tonight. Hopefully, I will not stay up to late...or drink to much, both of which will make it hard to get out of bed and run.

I purchased on ebay and new to me, pre-enjoyed wetsuit. I hope it fits. I read somewhere that the Orca wetsuits run a tight and I should add 10lbs to my weights. So I went with the size 8. I guess if it does not fit, I can re sell it on ebay. I was torn between the full wetsuit and sleeveless. Again, if it becomes and issue I will resell it. I know that I hate being cold, so I figured. I would go full.

I also watched Ironman Florida on VS this weekend, and most people had full wetsuits.

Swam at the YMCA at lunch. Still wish I could do flip turns, Is there a flip turns for dummies book?

Weekend update

As usual a busy weekend. We got the watch the space shuttle launch. Me and the boys went to the dock and my wife relayed the count down to us. As we got the 3-2-1, you could see a glow on the horizon. It was truly awesome. It was like the sun was rising. The boys were very excited. It is great creating memories for kids.

It is especailly cool doing something with them that you know they will remember forever.

I was able to get a good 2 hour run in on Saturday morning. I continue to find things when I run. Last weekend it was a penny, this weekend it was a small rattle. I carry these trinkets through my long run as a little treasure to give my kids. Last weekend I learn my lesson about leaving a penny you find tails up. Apparently, it brings bad luck. I thought of this as I picked the penny up. I figured anytime you find money it is good luck. WRONG

Well after my run, my wife put my clothes in the wash. After the washing machine stopped my wife returned with my hydration belt and my ipod nano still clipped in. YES I guess I did forget something. DOOOH

I stuck the ipod in the toaster oven for about an hour at 100. Let it dry out and now it works!!!I can not believe it you could see water sloshing around the screen.

Today I swam for about 48 minutes at the YMCA Aquatic Center. Long lanes were in. I love getting in a grove and just swimming. I am starting to enjoy swimming. It has taken a while!!!Next on my list is flip turns. How do you learn?

Another busy day

One of those days. I had to get the kids on the bus so I could not get to the pool till 9:30 or so. I was disappointed when I got there. Short lanes. I got about 30 minutes in. I then had to run to the grocery store. It is nice working out of the house, when I am not traveling.

I rushed back for a 11am confrence call. Spending the whole week in the home office means expense reports and cleaning up the desk. I have never met a sale rep that does not hate to do expenses.

I was able to get a 45 minute run in at lunch. I listened to SimplyStu. I think I need to formulate my race plan and work on core training. The 2 races I have scheduled are the Disney Half Ironman and Ironman Florida.

JT has a band concert tonight, so we are on the go....

The trainer

Spent some time on the trainer today. I rode first thing in the morning and then at lunch time. It can get very boring. I was able to watch some TV. I hope to get out and really ride this weekend.

My butt seems to get dumb after spend time in the saddle. I have the Profile Design Stryke saddle. It has a cut out in the center. Perhaps I am not position properly, too far forward, too far back??? I need to get the bike tuned and fit again.

Busy weekend. I need to get a good long run in. I also have to help out with the Cub Scout Pinewood Derby Clinc and my wife has class Saturday morning. It could be another weekend of waking when it is dark and cool for a long run, so that I can return by 7:45.

Tuesday, Decemeber 5th

Swam 104 lengths at the YMCA today. The YMCA aquatic center in Orlando is 25yds x 50m. Today they had the lanes going the short lengths. I think the balance of the week they will have long lanes in the AM and short lanes in the PM. I think...

I was doing pretty good at counting laps. Then my mind wanders to other things, then I forget if that was 74 or where was I. I felt great. I do feel like a ping pong ball going back and forth....

I have started the training plan from http://beginnertriathlete.com. I am using the 20 week Half Ironman program, and then I will follow it with the 20 week Ironman program. I need to focus on my bike and swim. I have enjoyed getting in the pool 3 days a week.

Tomorrow I will run and bike. I am getting ready for the Goofy Challenge in January also, so I have to keep my running miles up.
